first, we shorten the tabs on the tank then drilled a hole in the middle.

another on rear.
test fit the bung.
tig welding.
also re-tig the rear brake tabs.
gas tank bung? you mean tank mount. gas tank bung is what plugs your gas tank and prevent if from spilling.
